I always liked the work of Carlo Carra from his early Futurism, his Metaphysical Paintings and the late stuff with a touch of Massacio. The big problem was that he became a fascist bastard at the end. EVENING WITH CARLO CARRA. oil on wood. 15 x12cms.

In the mind of Walter Mitty I painted this just after my triumphant return from WW1. I was hanging out with my Vorticist and Futurist mates somewhere between Rome and London where we invented Pittura Metafisica. Reality: I finished it just before Tea time after a days work on the building site. It makes me happy though.
